Sallies, if I take Jimmy Carter's recent comments, about Hamas and Fatah, wouldn't it be a logical conclusion, to say Jimmy believes, "If the South would have won the American Civil War, Lee and Lincoln, that somehow slavery would be all right?"  Some Christians believe that slavery is acceptable, since it is mentioned in the Bible, but God never instituted slavery or approved of it.
