Sallies sitting on a person to subdue their out-of-control behavior is typical human behavior: it is seen in child play, in wrestling, and it shouldn't be shocking nor disparaging to have witnessed a guards subdue Paul Carlock, in this manner; they weren't beating him - just trying to bring him under control.

Arvin if Mr. Carlock would have been behaving in a civil manner, guards wouldn't have had to use any force, just words, to direct him: in his day, in his cell, and in the things that were required of him, being a prisoner.  No, I think Paul Carlock, especially because he was a clown, who had entertained and had the trust of children was so ashamed of himself that he could not find peace, and rage overtook his day and his manner.
